A whopping €18,636,662 has been pencilled in for road improvements in Donegal in 2015.The cash injection has been welcomed by Fine Gael TD for Donegal South West, Dinny McGinley. The cash is to be provided for national road improvement and maintenance works in Donegal next year. “Our national road network is a key asset as our economy moves towards recovery and growth. Preserving it will significantly assist and drive economic activity.“€18,636,662 in funding has been made available for improvement and maintenance works in Donegal. This will ensure that the standard of our national road network is preserved and will help the ongoing efforts to improve safety, reduce congestion and increase economic output.“This funding is for national roads. Regional and local road allocations for 2015 will be announced in January.”Minister Joe McHugh also welcomed the announcement. “I welcome the announcement from the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Paschal Donohue, that the National Roads Authority (NRA) will be allocating a total of €18,636,662 for Donegal County Council. This figure includes €4,530,000 under National Primary Improvements; €8,405,000 under the National Secondary improvement; and almost €4,500,000 under both National Primary and Secondary Improvements, with over €500,000 in Maintenance works.“The NRA’s 2015 National Road Allocations, which will provide a total of €184.8 million in funding, will benefit local authorities and communities in Donegal and across the country. Our national road network is an essential part of developing this country’s recovery. This funding is paramount for an area like Donegal, where access to the rest of the country and improvements of existing infrastructure will benefit both people and businesses. This funding will be used for improvement and maintenance works on the existing network and also towards the progression of a number of projects through the design, planning, land acquisition and construction phases.“Earlier this month, the NRA provided details of their three year minor works programme which will be launched next year and the funding announced today will go towards progressing some of these schemes, such as the €4 million towards the N15 Blackburn Bridge Realignment Scheme in Donegal.”WHOPPING €18M GRANTED FOR ROAD IMPROVEMENTS IN CO DONEGAL was last modified: December 19th, 2014 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)

(Visited 35 times, 1 visits today)FacebookTwitterPinterestSave分享0 When people hear of “geologic time,” they are trained to think of millions of years. Big things can happen in far less time.Instant Manhattan: Imagine covering Manhattan with sand almost 500 feet deep. (Some might consider that a good idea, but this is about geology, not politics.) Explosions under the sea, described by Nature (485, 31 May 2012, page 551, doi:10.1038/485551f), produced that much sand instantaneously in Norwegian waters, according to a drilling survey. “At the start of the most recent ice age, pressurized sand exploded through cracks in the sea floor at the bottom of the North Sea, producing a body of sand large enough to bury Manhattan under 160-metre-high dunes.” Some 10 cubic kilometers of sand erupted through these cracks rapidly.Diamonds by overnight delivery: In January, popular science sites like Live Science and PhysOrg repeated the surprise that kimberlite eruptions, which bring diamonds from deep in the mantle to the surface, are much more rapid than previously thought. Both articles used the word “rapid” several times. Kimberlite eruptions are the deepest known events that bring magma to the surface. Due to buoyancy and other physical processes now considered, the magma accelerates as it rises.Off by three orders of magnitude: Science Daily reported another geological process that was much more rapid than thought:The depths of Earth are anything but peaceful: large quantities of liquids carve their way through the rock as fluids, causing magma to form. A research team led by the University of Münster, has shown that the fluids flow a lot faster through solid rock than previously assumed. In the Chinese Tian Shan Mountains, fluids pushed their way to Earth’s mantle from great depths in just 200 years rather than in the course of tens or even hundreds of thousands of years. You heard it right: 200 years. “And the most exciting thing is that this amount of fluid flowed through the rock in what is for geological processes a very short time, only about two hundred years,” one of the researchers said. The fluids had to act “like a jet through solid rock,” according to the headline. The authors believe this mechanism is not just localized to the Chinese Tian Shan Mountains they hiked in. ” It is also possible that such focused fluid releases are associated with the occurrence of earthquake events in subduction zones,” which, of course, are widespread throughout the world’s tectonic plates. To keep their beloved millions of years, the Norway team hid the fluid accumulation there. But the actual explosions and injections they deduced led to a correction by 3 orders of magnitude. “The release of fluids from minerals in the descending plates is a large-scale and continuous process that takes place at depths up to two-hundred kilometres and takes millions of years,” they explained. “During this time, the fluids first accumulate.” Ad hoc explanations are popular because they are so convenient.Based on 12 years of reporting here at CEH, it is a safe prediction that these instances will not be the last time we hear that some geological process is “more rapid than previously assumed.” It’s time for some deprogramming from the indoctrination the Darwinian moyboys have injected into the students’ brains around the world.
Pam Green (left) says she is grateful for people assisting her to help a beggar get a job. Here she is with Nomsa Ncube, one of the people who gave a donation.(Image: Facebook)It took a small action such as posting a detailed status on her Facebook profile to lead to thousands of South Africans opening their hearts to help a homeless young man find a job.Pam Green, from Glenhazel, posted a status on 29 June, and asked her friends to share the message. They did, and the message was shared more than 34 000 times. Within days job offers streamed in for the 21-year-old, Joseph Phukube.Green’s message read: “This is Joseph Phukube. He is a beggar in Sandton. What makes him different to every other beggar you see? He isn’t there begging for money, he is begging for a job, literally! He has his matric certificate and CV on hand.“What a gentle young man, life has been hard on him. And his response when I asked where he stayed was ‘under Grayston Bridge.’“This is a bright kid, just look at his maths marks, he received a university entrance!”TRAFFIC LIGHT MEETINGGreen says she met Phukube when she stopped her car at a traffic light in Sandton. “He approached my car and tried to convey to me that he was looking for a job. Embarrassed to admit, but I drove off and rushed to my appointment that I was late for.“About 100m later, at the next robot I couldn’t bare the guilt I felt at ignoring him anymore. I turned around to go back to find Joseph Phukube and speak to him.”The local newspaper, Sandton Chronicle, reports that Phukube has received more than 1 000 responses following Green’s Facebook update. Job offers made to him range from call centre agent positions to scholarships at various institutions.Phukube says his dream job is in marketing. “I love new challenges, especially ones that will help me experience new things in life. I also like the chance to change businesses and come up with new ideas,” he adds.A day after her initial post, when offers of help had started streaming in.Her action has inspired admiration on social media, with Twitter chattering about her:The #HelpJoseph tag really warms my heart. I pride myself in honouring my truth.“People have questioned his [Phukube’s] motives and my response is simple: I would rather be duped by 10 false-hearted people and know that I helped one genuine person in need, than miss the opportunity of helping 10 people because I was duped by one.”Green, who has been doing volunteer work to help others since she was in school, says social media has definitely been a big help in assisting people in need. “I have put up previous campaigns for other community outreach projects I was involved with.“Recently [we had a campaign] for the victims of the xenophobic attacks, where we assisted at the displacement camps, as well as assisting families to return to their country of origin. Please can people like our page, My brother’s keeper, to access information about future initiatives I will be starting.”She is excited for Phukube, saying: “I can’t wait to see him flourish. Everyone deserves a chance and I am so glad that everyone sees the same special soul that I did. I am truly hoping that Joseph’s story will help me to help many more people in the future.”Watch Phukube’s response following the offers of help:

TUSCALOOSA, AL – SEPTEMBER 30: Minkah Fitzpatrick #29 of the Alabama Crimson Tide reacts after he and Isaiah Buggs #49 sack Shea Patterson #20 of the Mississippi Rebels at Bryant-Denny Stadium on September 30, 2017 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)The weather in New Jersey has been decidedly less than ideal this winter, and more snow is on the way tonight into tomorrow. Residents all over the Garden State are anxious for spring to finally arrive. But some residual snow didn’t deter Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter’s Prep 5-star cornerback Minkah Fitzpatrick, an Alabama signee, from getting in an off-season agility workout this afternoon. Fitzpatrick hit the (covered) turf at his high school’s practice field to do some footwork drills, and he posted video of the training on his Twitter account. Minister of Justice, Hon. Delroy Chuck, is calling on the region’s parliamentarians to scale up action in the fight against HIV and AIDS in the Caribbean. He said that priority must be given to tackling stigma and discrimination against people living with AIDS, and removing legal and social barriers that drive the epidemic underground and limit access to prevention and treatment. He said parliamentarians must also support and advance actions for social protection of people living with HIV, and become advocates and ambassadors for HIV and AIDS in their communities, constituencies and in the Parliament. He further urged support for human rights and social justice programmes; adoption of effective legal provisions addressing violence against women and girls; and development of social services, including shelters.Minister Chuck was addressing the opening of the Pan Caribbean Partnership against HIV and AIDS (PANCAP) Regional Parliamentarians Forum at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston on May 30.He welcomed the staging of the event, noting that it is a clarion call for leaders to get involved and stay involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS. He said the disease has demonstrated the capacity to destabilise countries.Minister Chuck said the biggest mistake would be to treat HIV/AIDS as solely a health issue.“The social determinants of HIV demand a response that transcends the boundaries of health sectors. We cannot address HIV and AIDS without addressing institutionalised discrimination of women, gender-based violence, poverty, social exclusion and inequality,” he noted.Meanwhile, Director of PANCAP, Dereck Springer, said the involvement of parliamentarians is a critical component in reducing the incidence of HIV/AIDS in the region. He said that in order to achieve better outcomes for key populations, PANCAP will continue to engage parliamentarians “for involvement in every stage of the process for revising policies, allocating resources and holding governments accountable as a means of maximising outcomes”.Some 63 parliamentarians from several Caribbean countries attended the two-day forum, where they participated in discussions aimed at designing a strategy for the elimination of HIV/AIDS in the region by 2030.Among the issues examined was the constitutional challenges posed by the criminalisation of sex between consenting adults, and discrimination based on gender, identity and sexual orientation. There was increased engagement on issues such as health, social protection and justice, particularly in Belize, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago, which have higher HIV prevalence rates. The PANCAP Regional Parliamentarians Forum aims to establish significant strategies that will inform critical steps regional parliamentarians can implement to contribute effectively to ending HIV transmission and AIDS-related deaths.PANCAP is a Caribbean regional partnership of governments, regional civil society organisations, regional institutions, bilateral and multilateral agencies and contributing donor partners. It provides a structured and unified approach to the Caribbean’s response to the HIV epidemic and coordinates a response through the Caribbean Regional Strategic Framework on HIV and AIDS, to maximise efficient use of resources, increase impact, mobilise resources and build capacity of partners.Representatives from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the CARICOM Secretariat also participated in the forum. He said that priority must be given to tackling stigma and discrimination against people living with AIDS, and removing legal and social barriers that drive the epidemic underground and limit access to prevention and treatment.
